Happy New Year! It's still so hard to believe 2011 is behind us. I cannot believe how fast last year went. The Christmas cards never went out and ingredients were brought but the cookies were never made – first time ever! Definitely feel like this Christmas snuck up on me. I'm not ready to give up yet, thinking it would be nice to be snowed in one weekend and getting it all done.

I just returned from a day at the DC Design Center looking for fabrics and wallcoverings for a few projects. I noticed certain colors definitely had a strong presence in the showrooms only to come back, open my email and find this:

Yes, these colors are definitely what's hot for 2012 based on what I saw in the showrooms today.
I recently received a fabric book from Robert Allen featuring one of their newest collections, global modern luxe from Dwell Studio. One look at these fabrics and you'd swear they collaborated with the 2012 trend experts for this collection. Here are just a few of the fabrics from this collection:

{Fresa in Blush}

{Batavia Ikat in Citrine}

{Ikat Blocks in Amethyst}
Gray has definitely had a lasting presence in the color trends for the past few seasons. It's interesting that the overall color trends continue to feel muted and toned down. They say that the color trends each season really are more a reflection on the mood of society than anything else. I guess you can say then we're all feeling a little subdued these days.
So, I had to search and see what others are doing with this color palette and found these:

Personally, I prefer a color palette that's a little bolder with more pop. But, if I had to work with this color palette, this is probably the look and feel I'd go for:

Color trends are always interesting. I've never been asked to create a room based on the latest color trends but you never know. It's kind of fun to think about.
