Happy St. Patrick's Day! This day has always been a special celebration in our house. Lucky the Leprechaun comes to visit us each year, making a complete mess of the place the night before but the green Hershey kisses and clover glitter he leaves scattered behind more than made up for it in my kids' eyes. The tradition started when my oldest Amber, now 21 was in preschool. She was so taken with Lucky the Leprechaun in school that I started having Lucky visit our house each year as well. Today was the first time Lucky didn't visit our family in probably 18 years which my youngest Jenny picked up on first thing this morning. Between soccer practices, a school meeting and homework last night, I didn't even connect today was St. Patrick's Day until late in the night and realized what that meant for Lucky.
Jenny was so sad to not find the usual chaos and treats waiting for her when she woke up this morning but we did manage to find the green T-shirt and put on a clover tattoo before we rushed out the door. Fortunately my brain kicked in right away and remembered where I had an extra tattoo from last year! But as I look back on the morning, I believe Lucky most assuredly did pay us a visit just not in our traditional way. It seemed like everywhere I turned, something was going wrong. Jenny overslept, with only 15 minutes to get ready and be at school (we did it, don't ask me how!), then Jordan overslept with 20 minutes to get ready (again, did it!), and a series of little mishaps all morning long had me wondering if Lucky was in our presence. He didn't scatter Hershey kisses or glitter clover this year but he did remind us he is alive and well! I can't wait for Jenny to come home from school today and tell her Lucky did come to visit. In fact, I'm thinking he might have even tucked away some Hershey kisses and clover glitter while he was here this morning.
